MobileMe not working in Mail!

If MobileMe mail doesn't work the way it should in Mail, you can change the port used for the connection and it usually solves everything. This is actually AppleCare's recommendation. Checking the box next to "Use SSL" in the account preferences will change it from the default 143 to 993. I have had this problem happen a few times with new Macs and using this has always solved the problem.

This as always worked for me! Even recently with my new MBP. And yes, Apple Care did recommend that to me...

Very cool tip!

All along, I've restricted MobileMe mail to the web interface because that was the idea behind it.

This means that I can set it up the same way on my iPod Touch.

But, the cross-synching only works with MobileMe mail - not your other mail accounts such as gmail.

Cancelled my MobileMe altogether, not only erased all the contacts on my iPhone, but actually deleted them all out of my 'secure' cloud. Just glad I had a back-up, still very annoying when I went to phone someone and had no info on the phone!

Apple always seems to have trouble with their mail program and I can't figure out why Apple can't get this right and has had problems for years with their .Mac Mail and now me.com. We pay for this service, yet Yahoo Mail, GMail, Hotmail and other free, online mail services have less problems. Why Apple is usually screwed up wit theirs is beyond me. If I had Apple's money, I would hire a few people who really know what they are doing, to straighten out the online Mail program and the Mail program on the computers and keep it straightened out. If Yahoo, GMail, Hotmail and others can do it, why can't Apple?

I agree with Charles on this one!

I will most likely let my MobileMe account expire next year, I have been using Hotmail, gmail, etc. for years without a problem.

Not happy with the new Macbooks - Apple ditched the Firewire 400 port - will keep my black Macbook for a VERY long time unless Apple decides to get their act together.
