The Google Calculator!

This is not specifically a Mac tip, it works with every device that can browse google.com, but it is so useful in replacing the built-in calculator widget. The built-in calculator widget is slow and not convenient, especially when the dashboard developer mode is not enabled. It is much simpler to use Google. You just have to enter the equation in the Google search bar and the result will appear instantly.

Don't forget to update your bookmarks, download the new widget and check out the new website at http://www.tips4mac.info/ Tips will soon only be posted on the new website.

that's right, in leopard, mac os x's spotlight CAN do calculations! try it yourself: do the cmd+space and then type 10+10 and watch the magic..

Agree with Vox, I use spotlight's calculator tool every day, so fast and convenient. Additionally, the standalone Calculator app has a permanent place in my dock. It loads fast and has better features than the dashboard widget. You can copy and paste numbers, has 3 modes including scientific and a paper tape feature which is extremely handy.

You can also use real language in the Google calculator too. Just type in something like "What is 25 percent of 100?" or "How many ounces are in 5 cups?"

@dmcurrie60+7 ... use the / sign.
