Easier dialing with address book!

A great tip submitted by Richie: Easier dialing with address book! In address book, you can click on the word next to the phone number (Home, Work, Mobile) and from there you can choose to display the phone number in "Large Type". The phone number will then be displayed in large numbers across the screen and it makes it much easier to dial from across the room. There is also another option which is "Dial with Skype" (It might only be there if you have Skype installed, I am not sure) and it will instantly open Skype and call that phone number. Thanks Richie for the tip!

Great tip, but is it not possible to 'dail; a phone number from addressbook with a 'soundgenerator'? Just keep the phone next to the mac and dail by using the dailsounds.

Huib, if you have your mobile phone configured as a bluetooth device on your Mac then if you not just click, but control-click on the word next to the phone number in address book, than you get a contextual menu including an item saying "Dial with Nokia" or whatever name you gave your phone when you configured it. Isn't this better than sounds!

It's possible to dial a phone number by holding the hook by the speaker :-) but it isn't free :-(

It's called ABdialer and you can find it on:

http://macronsoft.com/pages/en/abdialer.html

I am curently mailing with a German developer which as a plug in with some sound problems, if they resolve, it's a great free plug in so stay tuned.

randy, there is a great way to dial using Quicksilver.

Make sure "Phone Actions" plug-in is activated. Command-" with QS Activated.

Activate QS, enter "Address Book", Right Arrow and scroll to person to call, Right Arrow and you will see telephone #s with Blue Telephone Icon. Select #.

Third QS pane opens. Tab to "Dial With..." and tab again where you will have two options: Modem and Speaker. Speaker dials the tone.

I use it with Skype-Out Plug-in and a Bluetooth headphone. 'Njoy.
