New Tab in Safari!
There was a tip last week about how you can get a new tab in Firefox or Camino by double-clicking on the tab bar. I mentioned that it doesn't work in Safari. There is a plug-in that will let you do the same thing in either Safari 2 or the new Safari 3 beta. The plug-in requires SIMBL, but it is included in the package that you download. You can check out Twicetab here on MacUpdate.

I find it's easier just to use my keyboard shortcuts - I use + T which opens up a new tab. Then don't forget the other tip, to get to the address bar quickly, just use + L.
Enjoy!

I have most of my common functions like this one programmed on my trackball's buttons so its only a quick click away. But its always a good thing to have more than one way of doing things.
I installed, deleted, reinstalled. It's in my Safari 3.0.1 menu as Twicetab Preferences.
I can open Twicetab Preferences and change it.
But double clicking the tab bar does nothing at all.
how do you get the first tab to appear? apple+T isn't working for me.
Tabs are not the default setting for Safari. Go to Preferences>Tabs and check "Enable Tabbed Browsing".
This doesn't seem to work for me at all.
IS THERE ANY WAY OF GETTING THE NEW TAB TO OPEN WITH YOUR HOME PAGE INSTEAD OF A BLANK SCREEN?
ya, I just use +T and +L....
like said above, check preferences to make sure u've got tabbed browsing.
and as far as opening new tabs without the blank screen...I think u can make them open up to the page that you were currently on but I don't know anything about opening the home page...actually, check the preferences....I'm sure it's in there somewhere.
Having recently downloaded Safari 3 Public Beta, i.e. "Version 3.0.2 (522.12)", I installed this successfully first time.
I have the Safari 3.0.2 beta installed, and double clicking the tab bar creates a new tab without ever installing this TwiceTab program.
I'm just activating tab browsing in safari and apple+T is useful for me.. And when you want to open a link to a new tab, just hold down Command + click..
It's so easy..
