Downloading YouTube videos!

This applies only to Leopard. I previously posted a tip that showed how to use the Activity window to download YouTube videos. It works very well, but it doesn't really fit in with how everything works on the Mac. The procedure (converting the downloaded FLV to something readable by the iPod) is just too complicated. A great application called Media Snap makes this whole thing so much easier. You can search for whatever is on YouTube. Once you choose the video you want, it will download it and convert it to a QuickTime format. You can learn more about Media Snap or download it here from MacUpdate.

there's also this app called tooble at tooble.tv which downloads youtube videos, and converts them to an ipod-readable format. even automatically imports it into your itunes for you, if desired.

I prefer Tube TV, it downloads and converts Youtube videos into iPod ready form.

I actually like iSquint better, it converts any video format into an iTunes video and it has a choice of either apple tv or ipod. It also uploads it straight to your iTunes

www.vixy.net is also another way of doing it, without actually having to buy/download software.
Not sure about any of the file formats tho.

I like using Videobox by tasty apps ( http://www.tastyapps.com/ ). You can download YouTube or flash video. I've gotten a lot of free Anime this way.
Videobox was even recommended in April issue of Macworld magazine.

You could download videos from Youtube with the Safari Activity Window, although it will only download them to a .flv file. But you can convert those into iPod format with iSquint. Another free program that works for 10.4 that I found that lets you download videos from You Tube is Miro. But it takes a lot of RAM, so I stick with the Safari Activity Window.

This app is great.
Simple interface, and easy to use!

Although the app does not have the option to import to iTunes automatically, the videos downloaded via the app ARE iPod-ready!

Actually, all you have to do is download realplayer. It comes with a downloader now that automatically detects video on youtube, dailymotion, etc and downloads it. Realplayer even plays the flv files! Or you could just convert them using iSquint

Kaos, you mention Safari Activity Window. I have tried SAW on Leopard. Once the vid has streamed in, I drag the paper folder into Visual Hub DVD or iPod conversion. Any comments on Visual Hub?
