iLife and iWork '08!

I just wanted to let you know how it'll work now with iLife and iWork '08. I should get my copies tomorrow and I'll start looking at these new softwares. The iLife and iWork tips will be based on iLife and iWork '08 + iMovie '06. Many tips will still work under iLife '06. The reason I will cover both iMovie '08 and '06 is because they are two entirely different apps and Apple will continue to support iMovie '06 (You can download iMovie '06 if you bought iLife '08 and you will be able to run both iMovies side by side).

Yeah, it's pretty wack that they didn't offer any video effects with iMovie 08. I was pissed actually, but thank goodness I still have 06 on my computer.

I hate that iMovie 08 is not compatible with a G4 processor. It leaves me out with my powerbook, which I've only had for 1 and a half years, but my iMac which I've had for just over 2 years is fine. Doesn't make sense why they would do this...

Yeah, I'm not very happy with it either. No visual effects? what's up with that? very disappointed.

and I keep trying to import a simple avi file, and it freezes up every time. in iMovie 6 I was able to easily drag practically any type of video file in, now I'm unable to do it at all. the only movies I've been able to work with so far are the iPhoto movies from my camera.

the few things you CAN do in the new iMovie are really easy and very slick looking, but in my opinion you give up a lot. too much. unless they update it, i'm sticking with 6.

Importing into iMovie 06 can br achieved by dropping the video into the actual packages folder. It does save some time with the actual importing. The dropped movie may show up in the trash depending on how you do it; if it happens just restore it.

I have also upgraded to ILife 08 and I love the new IPhoto (don't use IMovie though so can't say but it seems very cool too) :)
