FLV QuickLook plugin!

What is great about QuickLook is that developer's can create plugins that add functionality to it. FLV files are not natively supported by QuickTime, but the Perian plugin solves that. If you have Perian installed, you can also install a plugin that lets you view FLV files in QuickLook. It is very useful if you use an FLV downloader to download videos from online video websites like YouTube, Google video, etc. The plugins needs to be installed in /Library/QuickLook/. You can download it here from the developer's website (the website is not in English, but the link on the developer's website is called "flv.qlgenerator 0.1" (direct download link)(Perian is required)).

Use Adobe Media Player available at http://www.adobe.com/products/mediaplayer/ for viewing FLV files. It is a wonderful piece of software.

I wish there was a way to quick look animated GIFs. I've seen other quick look plugins use html to format how it looks, so it's possible to have a web view. I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard, just make a web view with just the selected GIF. If only I knew how to code

Todd, check out JustLooking (http://chipmunkninja.com/). I too was surprised Preview hasn't (and won't) fixed that and found out about JustLooking on this blog.

Adobe Media Player is good? Everything I have ever seen by Adobe is way overblown (except Adobe Photo Deluxe back in OS 9 days) including the process of installing them/having to give so much info in the registration process. I just tried to download it and it wanted to install something called AIR beforehand. I let it but it thought my hard drive was locked so I gave up. To heck with it.

I have many flv files and this now allows me to take advantage of QuickLook's great power to now use it for this media file type as I use it for video, music, photo and printed materials.

Thanks for posting this!
