Applications folder in your Dock!

A great tip submitted by Richard C. Haber: applications folder in your Dock! This tip offers a different way of launching applications that are used less frequently. There are many ways of doing this: QuickSilver, Todos or simply navigating through the Finder to the Applications folder. I really liked this one however, because it is very simple and it doesn't require any additional software. You basically only have to drag the Applications folder to the Dock but at the right, just beside the trash. Once this is done, you can choose an application by either "Ctrl-Clicking" or by clicking and holding on the Applications icon in the Dock. A menu will pop up with everything that is in the folder. You can also do the same thing by dragging any folder or file to this area of the Dock. Thanks Richard for the great tip!

Sometimes you don't want every Application in the dock. Espessially if you have a big HD full of apps.

I prefer to create a separate folder with allias' of all my most used apps in. I have also got a smart folder that I put there of everything I looked at 'since yesterday'.

The only problem is, is that it is kept in Alpabetical Order.

I've been doing this for a couple of years now. Now when I help folks who are new to macs set up their computers, thi is the first thing I show them how to do. A great and easy tip!

I prefer todos and quicksilver. Todos especially because if you have a lot of random applications on your computer (i.e. OS apps or support apps for other programs) you can hide them in the list that todos brings up.

I tried it and the app folder disappeared in a cloud of smoke. I tried it again and it worked. I then discovered that I had an application folder on the desktop which I had assumed to be a duplicate. I deleted it, went to empty the trash and discovered the stupidity of my actions. I stoped the process, but some things are just gone, photo booth, the utilities folder...
