A better way to search in Spotlight!

It is possible to add specific search terms about the kind of file you are looking for without even going in the more advanced search window. Adding "kind:pdf" or "kind:jpeg" will limit the search to PDF or JPEG files. It is a very quick and easy way of doing an advanced search in the standard dropdown menu.

I'd like to add another Spotlight tip.

In Safari, to the right of the Spotlight icon is a small arrow - click it to reveal a drop down menu showing you all of your previous searches.

@Brian: Safari doesn't have a spotlight box, that is just a web search box. Confusing I guess that they use the same icon in both.

Great tip - I use this all the time, especially kind:contact and kind:folder.

Try Leap, for the same functionality with a great interface plus quick look built in.
Couldn't live without in a corporate environment (which powerpoint presentation again?).
